I can hardly believe it – my baby is five. My baby.
He is a true joy in every respect. He’s easy going, kind, helpful and smart. He's the most practical member of our family and not much ruffles his feathers. Those baby blues make it hard to ever say no! He’s quick to laugh and his laugh is the best I’ve ever heard – it’s long and loud and contagious. He’s silly, he’s athletic and he loves God. I can’t tell you how many times our family has said they think he’s on the path to priesthood :-)
With Scout the elf decked out in his birthday finery, we woke the little one up with our traditional pancake breakfast and hot chocolate. When I whispered into his sweet ear “Happy Birthday, baby. We have pancakes and hot chocolate downstairs.” He replied “Thank you, but I need my rest.” And promptly pulled the covers up over his head. (See Whit loves #2 above.) Needless to say, temptation got the best of him (see Whit loves #5 and #7) and after a few minutes we heard his heavy feet crashing down the stairs.
Honey orchestrated the same birthday gift scavenger hunt that he did for John a couple of weeks ago, and the baby was thrilled to find two Pokemon card packs and his very own lacrosse stick. (Just like brother, of course.)
Later in the day he carried Transformer cupcakes off to school. Why does he have to grow up so fast?!!?
And last night we celebrated with his favorite cousins over supper and sweets at Cheesecake Factory.
Happy Birthday, angel. You’re still my baby…
xoxo
PS. Did you note the lack of Christmas decorations in the den?!?! Yeah. Me too. (In fact, I can't stop thinking about it.) Due to a still unresolved leak upstairs, we had to take them down. We now have a hole in the ceiling and I'm feeling awfully grinchy. Always the optimist, Honey happily exclaimed "Well, thank goodness we have 6 more trees."
PPS. Don't forget to check out stop #4 on the 12 Days of Christmas Tour!!
