Dressing Table {Before & After}

It’s pretty much taken me the entire first quarter of 2013, but the closet has been cleaned out and organized from the rooter to the tooter and the little entry vestibule has undergone a drastic transformation into a sweet little dressing table.

Honey relocated my hanging clothes to the main corridor of the closet and painted the walls to match the master bedroom.  (Almost) ALL the rest has been organized, sold or donated! 





Since I hung the Oysteria plates in the living room, I moved the blue and white china people that were previously on the sconces in here.  The mirror was moved from the dining room after I replaced it a slightly skinnier/taller version.  The crystal sconces were the splurge of the whole endeavor, although I did get them while on sale from Restoration Hardware Baby and Child.



The silver tray was a wedding gift that couldn’t be happier to see the light of day!  I used the gorgeous shell (One Fish Two Fish) that Sister gave me for my birthday to hold the jewelry I wear most often.  The little ring box was a wedding gift from a very special family and, while I’ve used it every day for eleven years, I’m thrilled to finally have a proper place for it.  The Wassaw Conch painting was a gift from precious Catherine Lovett (who I would totally claim as my bff if I still lived in Savannah.)



The DIY monogrammed canvas that is by far the most popular thing I’ve EVER blogged about was relocated from the guest bathroom.  I never was really crazy about it in there and think it’s much better suited to my own little personal space.  The color looks a little off here, but in person it picks up beautifully on one of the lighter shades in the curtain. 

  
 

I showed off all the details on the $25 DIY Ikea stool makeover last month.  Mother sewed the seersucker skirt for the desk and Honey cut me a piece of plexi glass for the top.



I turned a bed sheet that goes with my master bedroom bedding into a balloon shade for the window for less than $10 worth of supplies at JoAnn and Home Depot.  (How very Scarlett O’Hara, no?)  I have searched high and low on the internet to try and figure out what the pattern was to no avail.  It was purchased about ten years ago from Yves Delorme and has a Pierre Fray label.
  
Best of all, I love that this…


… is now a lovely extension of the rest of the room.



That leaves just one eyesore to tackle – the lovely master bathroom.  All in good time.

Have a happy Tuesday, y’all!  It’s swimming lesson day around these parts and here’s to hoping that the baby will actually, well, get in the water.  Between that and the fact that we didn’t do a lick of homework last night I’m thinking the witching hour will be exceedingly witchy tonight.
