No, not that kind of Turbo... In case you did not know, DreamWorks Animation has a film called Turbo coming out next summer. The teaser for that said film is finally here! Yes, the very film that had a lot of us animation fans asking, "How the heck is this thing going to play out?"
Anyways, this teaser only gives us a few things. First off, I like the title character. He seems like he'll be a cool lead, but he's not very interesting. A snail with the dreams to race in actual human races... However, I believe DreamWorks will add some interesting backstory to the character. One can only hope, right?
I got a good chuckle out of his attempt to beat his own record, which just shows how dedicated he is to winning. That's it, though. We don't get any footage of him after that crazy accident happens. I still can't really buy that premise, but from this teaser, the film will probably bask in its ridiculous story and be what it should be. Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted was proof that DreamWorks could do a fun film with a story that resorted to improbable antics and cartoon action, but it pulled it off with style.
So yes, is it bad that I am looking forward to this? Or will a new trailer come and lower my expectations (a la The Croods)? Who knows, but this could very well be a hilarious ride from DreamWorks. Or it might crash and burn.
