Savannah Mansions

Ever since I was a little girl in love with Scarlett O’Hara, I’ve daydreamed about living in one of the gorgeous mansions along Savannah’s oak lined Victory Drive.  When we were down there earlier in the month, I noticed that my very very favorite AND Mother’s favorite are both now for sale.  Want to take a little tour with me?

802 East Victory Drive $870k
Realtor.com says: Live among the majestic live oaks on picturesque Victory Drive in one of the finest mansions representing what is considered the best of Savannah real estate currently offered for sale. Located on the corner of Paulson Avenue and the palm-tree lined median of Victory Drive the expansive residence is well appointed with all of today's luxuries and fine historic detailing true to the homes 1920's roots. Upon entering the two-story foyer the exquisite oak paneling and grand staircase welcome you home with period details including sconces, a chandelier, archways and even a piano nook. The formal living room with plaster medallion and marble fireplace hearth and surround is welcoming to guests prior to dinner in the adjacent formal dining room separated by massive sliding pocket doors. From the dining room you can look out through French doors to the sun-drenched sunroom and expansive backyard.

The eat-in kitchen is chef designed with modern amenities all built in including drawer dishwasher, commercial refrigerator and warming drawer. The eight burner gas stove with dual ovens, griddle and indoor grilling area is prominent when you enter the room beneath the commercial hood systems that services it. The rear French door welcomes you into the large fenced yard and paver outdoor entertaining area with a backdrop of palm trees perfect for alfresco dining on a warm southern evening. The family room enjoys views out back and opens into the kitchen with a fresh Carrera marble surround fireplace and soothing pale cerulean walls.

The upstairs living area is very generous with three over-sized bedrooms including the amazing master suite with a five piece master bath including the sculptural soaking tub, glass enclosed shower and two separate vanities. A dressing area with custom closet systems separates the light filled master bedroom at the rear of the house from the spa like bathroom. All three bedrooms features fireplaces with ornate mantelpieces and the landing makes the perfect media room upstairs for lazy evenings at home.

For guests there is a large carriage house apartment above the oversized one car garage with an automatic garage door, workshop and second laundry room. Upstairs there are 2 bedrooms, a living area full bath and a nice full kitchen.

920 East Victory Drive $1.7M
Realtor.com says: Located on picturesque Victory Drive, this is a unique home that many have tried to replicate but cannot duplicate. The stately architecture of this home exhibits the best of traditional design through symmetry, majestic scale, and elaborate detailing.

The sweeping staircase that draws you to the second floor, the 11 foot ceilings, the spectacular fireplaces there is a lot to absorb, each detail more precious than the last. The first floor has a flow that makes for the perfect space to entertain, should it be over a hundred guests or an intimate gathering of family. The foyer is flanked by the music room, once used as a receiving room for guest to the left, and the formal living room to the right. Both have fireplaces with a gas burning coal basket. Just off the dining room is the solarium which offers a 180 degree views to the natural beauty outside. To the rear of the dining room is the study. The kitchen is located on the rear of the home and is equipped with the finest of modern conveniences including professional appliances, custom cabinetry & granite counters. Not to be overlooked are the keeping room and rear staircase that provides quick access to the floors above when entering from the porte cochere.

The second floor, with its 12 foot ceilings, has four unique bedrooms, each with a fireplace. There is a surprising amount of living space as the area surrounding the staircase acts as a mezzanine, if you will. The largest guest bedroom has a private bathroom and doors to the front veranda while the other two bedrooms share a bathroom. The master suite has a large fireplace, double French doors to the front veranda as well as built-ins to hide a computer center and television cabinet in the sitting area. The master bathroom is a great retreat with a large, free standing claw foot tub, separate walk-in shower an antique double sink basin with marble counters. Not to be forgotten is the walk-in closet, a special feature that is not found in many homes of this vintage. The third floor offers a large room with 15 foot ceilings, multiple walk-in attic space, a full bathroom and 4 alcoves large enough to place a bed in each!

In the rear of the home, through the garden, is the carriage house. Complete with 3 spacious garage spaces and a two bedrooms suite with full bathroom.

Majestic oaks, stately architecture, sweeping staircases, spectacular fireplaces, verandas, mezzanines and a porte cochere???  Well, I don’t mind if I do!

The internet can be a beautiful thing.  Do you have any idea how long I’ve wanted a peek inside these walls?!?!?  If one of y’all buys one of these, pinky promise to invite me over!!!
xoxo
